7-year-old Jaslyn Adams was shot and killed at a McDonalds on April 18, 2021 in Chicago, all in front of her 29-year-old father, Jontae Adams. Jaslyn loved to dance and make TikTok videos.
Jaslyn and her father were in a car at the McDonalds drive-thru located at 3200 W. Roosevelt Rd. waiting on food. A vehicle pulled up and 2 suspects got out and fired several shots at the father and daughter.
Jaslyn was hit by the gunfire and rushed to the hospital, where she eventually died. Her father Jontae was also shot multiple times and was hospitalized, the father did survive. The suspects jumped back in the suspect vehicle after the shooting and left. The shooting scene was littered with bullet shell casings.
Jontae is in serious condition at the hospital. Jaslyn has three siblings. The shooters are still on the loose.
Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot released the following statement:
I am heartbroken and angered that a 7-year-old child was killed this afternoon on Chicago’s West Side. This unthinkable act of violence has no place here. The epidemic of gun violence cutting our children’s lives short cannot go on.
