YOUNG LATINO MAN AMONG 3 DEAD IN UPTOWN CHARLOTTE CONSTRUCTION ACCIDENT

On January 2, 2023 three men were killed in uptown Charlotte, NC during a tragic construction place accident on site. 26-year-old Jose Bonilla Canaca is among the 3 men dead. The victims were working at a construction site on East Morehead Street. Video of the construction accident can be seen here.

The workers were on the construction site of an apartment building. And around 9 a.m. the scaffolding that the 3 construction workers were standing on collapsed. The workers were high up at 70 feet when the platform came crashing down. The 3 employees were killed on the scene by the fall.

2 more construction workers were hurt and taken to the hospital, but those 2 survived. It is not clear what company the construction workers were employed with.

OSHA and the NC Department of Labor will evaluate the construction site, and there will likely be violations, penalties, and fines.

A latino construction worker in Charlotte fell to his death during an accident on a skyscraper. His name was Juventino Mata-Hernandez.
